Vocational Service: Abandoned No More

October 31, 2010, Makati City
AG/PP Cora Tan, RC ParaƱaque Lakan-Bini
Vocational Service, once perceived as the abandoned avenue of service by Past Rotary International President Rajendra Saboo, took center stage in an awarding ceremony, led by District 3830 Immediate Past District Governor Sid Garcia, on the evening of October 26, 2010 at the Great Eastern Hotel in Makati City.

IPDG Sid presented the coveted Rotary International Model Vocational Projects Award for RY 2009-2010 to three District 3830 Rotary clubs, RC Makati Bel Air for RVOTE (represented by IPP Roland Zurbano, PP Nenette Aseniero and Pres. Robbie Bonoan), RC Makati Cristo Rey for Ethical Leadership Roadshow (IPP Nick Pelaez), and RC Muntinlupa Central for Super Pinoy Kids (IPP Rene Aclan).  Indeed, it was a shining moment for the awardees and the proud members of the three clubs, who witnessed the event.  They all promised to continue the advocacy for Vocational Service projects.

The 3 winning projects were chosen form among other vocational projects of 32,000 Rotary clubs around the world and are now posted at the Project Link of the RI website to forever serve as testaments of dedication to service by Filipino Rotarians who champion Vocational Service.   Philippines reaped the awards and we are proud that they all came from District 3830.

Abandoned no more, Vocational Service will live on in the heart and soul of District 3830.  We, indeed, had one shining moment of pride and glory.  Our Camelot.  What a stellar celebration of the Vocational Month of October!

Thank you to IPDG Sid Garcia, who inspired us to focus and tread on the less traveled Avenue of Vocational Service during his term.

Mabuhay District 3830!  Mabuhay Rotary International!

2010 Governor's Visit

2010 Governor's Visit - 6pm Galley Gril, el Grande Ave., BF Homes Paranaque

Barely a few months since induction, we were once again in the presence our beloved Governor Ed. This time it was specifically to see how our clubs has been doing.

There was huge traffic congestion at the South Superhighway so we had to wait for the our guest to arrive. While the Club was waiting, the very jovial group sang a birthday greeting to our second lakan member Barangay Captain Jeremy Marquez.

Once our dear Governor Ed arrived, President Thelma and him had their one on one session. We were all preparing for the next part of the program.

Other district guest started to arrive too, Deputy District Chair Maribel, District Chair Sally and our own Assistant Governor Lea. After the one on one session, President Thelma co proceeded to present the updates on our Presidential Citation and Globa; Awards.

On the Presidential Citation the club was well into the Club Service and Community Service portion and will have to complete the Vocational Service and International Service. We are very happy to note that Membership is doing very well as our won clubs contribution to The Rotary Foundation. We are on the way to receiving the coveted Presidential Citation with Distinction.

On the Global Awards, we are gunning for the Gold Award, District Chair Sally was even joking that we might reach Platinum.

It was good to see how well the club is doing despite some challenges along the way. But that is life, challenges make out lives exciting. We are again looking for the awards but also the reward of knowing that our club is doing very well over all.

After all the presentation we also took an opportunity to provided an International Toast to the Rotary Club of Orange in NSW Australia.

We also celebrated the birthday of our Governor Ed Alvarez with a song by the club.
